Chris is super duper busy, so it’s me, the intern, putting in my two cents again.
I’m thinking, “What on earth does that mean?”
So I looked it up. It’s from a quote by Benjamin Franklin “…but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”
So, a really famous old guy said it, and now all the old tax guys like to quote it?
I find it funny that Chris capitalized on both of these surest things in the world as his career. It’s his job to help with both and take money for it. He’s a wise sort of person, I suppose.
I personally think that there’s another thing not so negative that’s sure in life. Happiness. Or, I strive to let that be true. I think it’s my responsibility and goal in life to love people, so I want my career to portray that. My dream would be to open a coffee shop that puts a smile on people’s faces, that leaves them happy and content with the world. My absolute favorite moments are when I do something special, like get a coffee out, and I feel for a while that life is sweet, beautiful, exciting, and fun. Even now, I’m sitting at a coffee shop, peppy jazz is playing over the speakers, my raspberry latte tastes like summer and sunshine, and life just feels right. I want to love people as a career by blessing them with this feeling, and help further the notion that the other thing so sure in this life is happiness.
So hopefully in your life, as in mine, there are three things sure: death, taxes, and a good cup of coffee.
Disclaimer: Yes, I know I’m usually witty and comical in these things, but I wrote this in a mood of severe introspection, so, here you go!
